Meta sued over AI smart glasses' privacy concerns, after workers reviewed nudity, sex, and other footage | TechCrunch
Lawyers say Meta's marketing materials promised privacy and user control over sharing footage. But an investigation found that subcontractors are reviewing footage from customers' glasses.
The complaint alleges that the Meta AI smart glasses are advertised using promises like “designed for privacy, controlled by you,” and “built for your privacy,” which might not lead customers to assume their glasses’ footage, including intimate moments, was being watched by overseas workers. The plaintiffs believed Meta’s marketing and said they saw no disclaimer or information that contradicted the advertised privacy protections.

Meta Workers Say They're Seeing Disturbing Things Through Users' Smart Glasses
Meta contractors in Kenya told two Swedish newspapers that they're being told to review highly sensitive footage recorded by smart glasses.
Buried in Meta’s AI terms of use, the company reserves the right to have the company “review your interactions with AIs, including the content of your conversations with or messages to AIs, and this review can be automated or manual (human).”

Expert Signals: Why Human Expertise Matters More Than Ever
AI excels at codifiable knowledge but can't transmit the situated, embodied expertise that makes human experts irreplaceable. Introducing expert signals.
The question we should be asking isn’t “will AI replace experts?” It’s “how do we build systems that amplify expert signals?” Because the answer to that question determines whether AI makes us collectively smarter or just collectively more efficient at producing ordinary work.
